United States Air Force General Alexus G. Grynkewich became NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe during a ceremony at Allied headquarters in Mons.

He succeeded United States Army General Christopher Cavoli, who had held the position since 2022. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte thanked Cavoli for strengthening collective defence, maritime security and military support for Ukraine.

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe leads Allied Command Operations, which plans and carries out NATO military operations. Grynkewich became the twenty first officer to hold the post.
