Germany announced that it would fund a $500 million package of military equipment and ammunition for Ukraine through NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List.
The equipment was to be supplied from United States stockpiles and selected according to Ukraine's urgent operational needs. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the delivery would help Ukraine defend itself against Russian attacks.
Germany followed earlier commitments by the Netherlands and by Denmark, Norway and Sweden. NATO said each package under the programme was valued at about $500 million.
