NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska called for continued military support for Ukraine during an informal meeting of European Union defence ministers in Copenhagen. She said recent Russian attacks showed the need for a just and lasting peace backed by real security.
Shekerinska said the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List had provided about $2 billion in additional equipment in less than one month. The supplies included air defence systems, ammunition and other items financed by European NATO members and Canada and sourced from the United States.
She welcomed EU investment in Ukraine's defence industry, including support financed with revenue from frozen Russian assets. The meeting was hosted by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, with Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal also attending.
