NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska highlighted Romania's role in collective defence, Black Sea security and support for Ukraine during an online address to the Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy.

She reviewed decisions from the NATO Summit in The Hague, including the target of spending 5 percent of gross domestic product on defence and security by 2035, higher defence production and continued aid for Ukraine.

Shekerinska also discussed the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, through which European members and Canada finance equipment from the United States. She said Romania's position on NATO's eastern side made its military and political contributions important to regional security.
