NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte presented a new way for European members and Canada to finance United States military equipment for Ukraine during an online meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

The voluntary programme was designed for urgent and repeated deliveries rather than a single package. NATO's support and training command in Wiesbaden was assigned to coordinate the work alongside the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

Germany and the United Kingdom hosted the meeting. Rutte linked the programme to Hague Summit decisions on higher defence spending, increased industrial production and continued support for Ukraine.
