NATO released a new Science and Technology Strategy endorsed by defence ministers on 5 June. The strategy makes research and new technology a central part of efforts to maintain NATO's military and technological position.

The document sets goals to anticipate and invest in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology and biotechnology, protect research and improve cooperation across NATO. It replaced the Alliance's 2018 science and technology strategy.
