NATO released three policy documents covering defence production, commercial space services and the use of new military technologies. The documents were made public during the NATO Summit in The Hague.
The Updated Defence Production Action Plan calls for members to increase production and give defence companies clearer information about future demand. It also supports larger joint orders and longer contracts. NATO defence ministers approved the plan in February 2025.
NATO's first Commercial Space Strategy is intended to make it easier for the Alliance to use services from private space companies during peace, crisis and conflict. It aims to simplify purchasing, increase competition and improve cooperation with the commercial space sector.
The Rapid Adoption Action Plan calls for faster testing, purchase and use of new technologies in military operations. It includes faster procedures and realistic testing through NATO Innovation Ranges. Defence ministers approved the space and technology plans in June 2025.
