NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte outlined the main issues facing Allied leaders before the NATO Summit in The Hague on 24 and 25 June 2025. The Netherlands was preparing to host a NATO summit for the first time.

Rutte said Allies were expected to approve a plan to raise defence investment to 5 percent of GDP, increase military production and continue support for Ukraine. He also called for major increases in air defence, armoured vehicles and ammunition as NATO adjusted to a more difficult security environment.
