NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte attended the G7 Leaders' Summit hosted by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Rutte welcomed Canada's decision to meet NATO's target of spending 2 percent of GDP on defence in 2025.

Rutte said the Canadian decision, together with a recent announcement by Portugal, meant all NATO Allies were expected to meet the 2 percent benchmark that year. He also met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese before the NATO Summit in The Hague.
