The European Union told the UN Security Council that conflict-related sexual violence remains a serious threat to civilians and international peace and security.
The EU called for survivor-centred responses, accountability for perpetrators and stronger implementation of international humanitarian and human rights law. It stressed the need to protect women and girls while also recognising that sexual violence can affect people across communities.
Brussels said prevention must be integrated into peacebuilding, security policy and justice mechanisms rather than treated only as a humanitarian consequence of war.
