The European Union told the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries that states without direct access to the sea face structural challenges that require stronger international cooperation.

EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais said overlapping global crises disproportionately affect poorer and more vulnerable countries and can intensify the costs associated with geographic isolation.

The EU linked improved connectivity, sustainable infrastructure, trade facilitation and regional cooperation to the long-term resilience and development prospects of landlocked economies.
