Senior European Parliament figures welcomed progress toward normalisation between Armenia and Azerbaijan following a leaders' meeting in Washington on 8 August.
The statement highlighted the initialling of the text of an agreement on peace and interstate relations and a joint declaration outlining additional steps toward a lasting settlement.
European lawmakers said the EU remained ready to support the normalisation process and linked regional stability to Armenia's efforts to diversify its economic and security relationships and pursue closer ties with Europe.
