EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas marked the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by reaffirming the European Union's commitment to nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control.
The EU paid tribute to the victims and survivors of the bombings and highlighted the continuing importance of preventing any future use of nuclear weapons.
Brussels said the anniversary should reinforce international efforts to reduce nuclear risks and preserve the global non-proliferation architecture.
