The European Union backed the establishment of an Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence and a Global Dialogue on AI Governance at the UN General Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the EU and its Member States, the European side supported a multilateral approach intended to strengthen scientific understanding of artificial intelligence and create a global forum for discussion of its opportunities and risks.
The EU presented international cooperation as essential to ensuring that the development and use of AI remain compatible with human rights, safety, innovation and sustainable development.
