The European Union announced new Global Gateway health investments in Africa and Latin America during UN General Assembly High-Level Week, advancing its Global Health Resilience Initiative.

The initiative brings together European institutions, Member States, development finance institutions and private-sector partners to strengthen health systems, preparedness and resilience in partner countries.

Health is one of the main areas of the EU's Global Gateway strategy, which is intended to mobilise large-scale public and private investment, including work on responses to malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and yellow fever.

The Commission presented the projects as part of a broader effort to build health capacity before the next major emergency rather than relying only on crisis response.
