The European Commission is launching a new Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform bringing together governments, experts and international organisations to support Europe's efforts to secure water supplies and improve resilience to environmental pressures.

The platform is intended to help implement the EU Water Resilience Strategy, adopted in June 2025, which established objectives of restoring the water cycle, developing a water-smart economy and ensuring safe and affordable water and sanitation for everyone.

High-level experts and representatives of EU Member States were selected for the platform following a call for applications, with international organisations also participating as observers.

The first meeting includes discussions on the EU's Digitalisation Action Plan for the Water Sector, alongside the Commission's parallel launch of the European Water Academy, with the stakeholder platform expected to meet twice annually.
