The European Commission has opened a new round of applications for DiscoverEU, offering 18-year-olds the opportunity to travel across Europe while exploring the continent's cultural heritage, history and diversity.

Young people who are 18 and live in an EU Member State or a country associated with Erasmus+ can apply until 15 October 2026 at midday Brussels time. Successful applicants will receive a travel pass allowing them to travel for up to seven days during a one-month period between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028.

Participants will primarily travel using environmentally friendly forms of transport such as trains, with other modes of transportation available in specific circumstances. Applicants can also submit their applications together with friends and travel as a group if selected.

In addition to the travel pass, participants will receive a DiscoverEU discount card providing reductions on accommodation, cultural activities, sports, local transportation and other services, with additional assistance available for young people with disabilities or health conditions.

DiscoverEU is part of the EU's Erasmus+ programme and is designed to give young Europeans an opportunity to experience other countries, learn about Europe's cultural heritage and build connections with people from different communities, combining youth mobility with the EU's wider emphasis on more sustainable forms of travel.
