NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Boris Ruge visited Moldova from 8 to 10 December for discussions on political dialogue, practical cooperation and the country’s defence capacity.

Ruge met Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and other Moldovan officials and said NATO’s cooperation with Moldova is based on national requirements and conducted with full respect for the country’s constitutional neutrality. He also thanked Moldova for contributing personnel to the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo.

During the visit, Ruge and Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii attended a handover ceremony for assistance provided through NATO’s Defence Capacity Building Initiative. The package included protective equipment, vehicles, medical training and information technology equipment.

NATO said the support is intended to strengthen Moldova’s defence institutions and national resilience while the country continues wider reforms connected to its European integration path. The Alliance said political dialogue and practical cooperation would continue according to Moldova’s priorities.
