NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska completed a two-day visit to the Netherlands that included meetings in Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft. The programme combined discussions on national resilience, defence industry, NATO-EU security and preparations for the 2026 Ankara Summit.

In Rotterdam, Shekerinska visited the Port of Rotterdam and joined representatives from the transport and energy sectors for a roundtable on resilience and industry. She also met Mayor Carola Schouten to discuss the role of cities and civilian infrastructure in wider national preparedness.

The following day, Shekerinska spoke at an event organised by the Clingendael Institute and the Netherlands Atlantic Association. She argued that Allies must deliver on the commitments made at the 2025 Hague Summit by increasing defence expenditure, strengthening the industrial base, encouraging innovation and maintaining support for Ukraine.

Her visit also included meetings with senior officials from the Dutch foreign affairs, defence and justice ministries and a visit to the space company ISISPACE in Delft. NATO described the Netherlands as an important contributor to Alliance security and assistance to Ukraine.
