Representatives from 30 national audit institutions — 28 of them from NATO member countries — gathered at alliance headquarters for the International Board of Auditors' annual meeting.
The agenda covered financial governance, transparency and public administration broadly, opening with a presentation of the board's 2024 activity report on its oversight of NATO's public resources. Ukraine's Accounting Chamber Chair, Olha Pishchanska, spoke on the specific challenge of auditing during wartime, while European Court of Auditors President Tony Murphy presented separate findings on military mobility across the alliance.
Sessions on financial and performance auditing rounded out the day. The board's own framing was that cooperation between national institutions is what keeps accountability meaningful at an alliance-wide scale.
