Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof held talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at alliance headquarters, covering defense spending, support for Ukraine and preparations for the summit the Netherlands is set to host in The Hague.
Rutte thanked the Netherlands for its contributions to NATO operations on land, at sea and in the air, and welcomed Dutch help organizing the upcoming summit. He also pointed to more than 1 billion euros the Netherlands has committed to expanding its own defense industry, alongside investment in modern land forces and advanced capabilities.
For 2026, the Netherlands has pledged 3.5 billion euros in support for Ukraine, Rutte said, including 100 million euros earmarked for NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package.
