NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska spent several days in Estonia this month reviewing the country's contributions to allied security, in a visit that took her from government ministries to military installations.
At Amari Air Base, she observed the Portuguese Air Force's current rotation supporting NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission, and was briefed on Exercise Hedgehog, a drill involving more than 18,000 Estonian personnel alongside forces from 11 other NATO countries. At the Lennart Meri Conference, she laid out alliance priorities ahead of the Hague summit — more defense spending, more military production, continued backing for Ukraine.
A stop at NATO's DIANA regional innovation center rounded out the visit; Shekerinska closed by thanking Estonia specifically for its defense investment and its work on Ukraine, innovation and cyber security.
