The World Food Programme warned that fighting and access restrictions in Yemen were preventing humanitarian organisations from reaching approximately 800,000 people who depended on food assistance.
The situation was particularly serious in Taiz, where disrupted roads, insecurity and dwindling market supplies placed displaced families at growing risk of hunger.
WFP reported that more than 18 million people across Yemen were facing acute food insecurity and that millions of children required nutrition support. The agency had continued to deliver emergency assistance where access remained possible.
WFP called for safe humanitarian access and additional financing to prevent further interruptions to food and nutrition programmes.
