UNDP Somalia and BBC Media Action have launched a 12-month initiative aimed at strengthening conflict-sensitive journalism and helping Somali media professionals produce accurate, balanced and public-interest reporting that contributes to social cohesion and peacebuilding.

The programme began with a four-day training for journalists from Banadir and Hirshabelle, with a second cohort scheduled for 11-14 October.

A total of 120 journalists from media organizations across Somalia are expected to receive training, mentoring, content-production support and access to professional learning networks.

The programme covers conflict analysis, media ethics, fact-checking and verification, misinformation and disinformation, gender-sensitive and inclusive reporting, journalist safety and the role of media in peacebuilding and social cohesion.
